I am a Mechanical Engineer.

Hello there! I’m a Mechanical Engineer with over 3 years of international experience working for world-leading engineering consultancies and global brands. I specialize in mechanical CAD, rapid prototyping, and all stages of the product development cycle. However, I don’t confine myself to traditional mechanical boundaries; I’m also comfortable diving into software development and collaborating on electronics integration. My global exposure has enriched my perspective, enabling me to deliver well-rounded solutions to complex engineering challenges.

Professional Experience

Contract Mechanical Engineer

Planet Innovation is a healthtech company specializing in innovation and manufacturing. They provide comprehensive services in product design, engineering, and manufacturing, focusing on diagnostics, life sciences, and healthcare industries. The project I worked on was developing a next-generation, fully automated multiplex blood testing instrument. I led the mechanical design and development of a critical multi-axis linear robotic sample handling stage within the instrument. I built and deployed custom SolidWorks automation tools using Visual Basic that led to efficiency savings equivalent to a full time engineer. I also managed the integration of electrical cabling throughout the instrument.

Shark Advanced Development Intern

SharkNinja is a designer, marketer and distributor of home devices and appliances. I was working within a team responsible for developing new technology and products for the Shark homecare brand. Some of my projects included designing and building a custom nozzle testing machine, developing a working prototype of a new type of wet and dry floor cleaner, and building and operating a home testing lab during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Period: Sept 2019 – Aug 2020
Location: London, UK

Mechanics and Design Group Intern

Cambridge Consultants develops breakthrough products, creates and licenses intellectual property, and provides business consulting in technology critical issues for clients worldwide. I was a intern in the Mechanics and Design group for 1 year and subsequently returned for 3 summer placements. Some of my projects included designing and building a commercial continuous production machine for beeswax coated food wrappings, tolerance stack analysis of micro-machined ceramic nozzle assemblies, and mechanical design of smart medication packaging to monitor adherence.

This last project was awarded an iF Design Award.

Period: Sept 2016 – Aug 2017
+ Three 8-week Summer Placements (2018, 2019, 2021)
Location: Cambridge, UK

Education

MEng Integrated Design Engineering with Industrial Placement Year – 1st Class

A 5 year full-time integrated Masters of Engineering degree at the University of Bath, UK. The focus of the course was on integrating mechanical, electrical and software skills to develop innovative products, machines and systems. The first two years were spent learning core engineering principles and gaining confidence in technical skills with practical work. The third year was spent working in industry with my placement at SharkNinja. The final two years were focused on how to use my growing practical knowledge for creative design and innovation. This was done through studio-based learning, Design-Make-Test cycles, and practical project work to deliver design solutions to technical problems.
